After encouraging us to say “Thank U, Next” to every person that has ever wronged us, Ariana Grande has apparently resumed her role as resident fashion inspiration. The pop star — who has already been the source of potential bath bomb ideas and an increase in hair extension sales — has reportedly brought her trend of lampshading to the masses. When it comes to Ariana Grande’s style, you could probably (okay, most definitely) just get an oversized sweatshirt and knee-high boots and call it a day

The year’s biggest fashion trend was oversized hoodies, and we all have Ariana to thank. The singer — who frequently coordinates her sweatshirts with knee-high boots — was the source of a 130% increase in searches for oversized hoodies, Lyst reported.

Explaining the increase on their site, Lyst also pointed out that fans were quick to search many of Ariana’s fave fashion brands, too. Calling it the “Ariana effect,” Lyst said that many were searching for Rebook, Vera Wang, and Burberry.

Naturally, Ariana wasn’t the only celeb to inspire our style this year. Lyst also reports that Rihanna, Blake Lively, Beyoncé, and Cardi B were among the other popular fashion searches in 2018.

If you’re new to the idea of lampshading, accomplishing the look is super easy. As Ariana has frequently demonstrated, you simply pick out your biggest, coziest sweatshirt and then pair it with boots. You can choose a colorful pair of shoes to really help the look pop or wear a more neutral shade.

Unlike Ariana’s popular ponytail, this style requires no sacrifice of comfort. In fact, it’s a trend that you can easily wear from a day of Netflix to a night with friends.
