December Global Holidays – December is truly the maximum holiday month of the year. The month is roughly set aside by all methods of events and celebrations, all at some point on the planet, which include religious, cultural or even corporate events.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Also known as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, this day was declared on November 21st, 2007 by the UN General Assembly, to be observed on December 3 every year to support people with disabilities and their families, organizations, communities, and the world as a whole.

World Toilet Day

December is marked with the celebration of Global Warming Day, and this year, it is on the 7th of December. This day is all about educating the public about the harmful effects of carbon emissions and encouraging more environmental sustainability.

The Immaculate Conception was a dream, a divine vision and a sign of grace granted by the Virgin Mary to St. Joseph on December 8th, 1504, after he had told her of his desire to have a son, according to the Catholic Church. People celebrate this all year long but it is always observed with pomp and a flare during the month of December.

Hanukkah – Hanukkah also referred to as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day religious celebration that began on December 2nd this year. Jews around the world celebrate the day of the lights, the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, also known as the Festival of Lights, which is not only celebrated by Jewish people, but also by other Christians and Muslims. They celebrate a re-telling of the victory of God over the Greeks.

Christmas: December Global Holidays

The Christmas season in America and much of the Western World actually begins in September, marking the beginning of the holiday season. Of course, the Christmas season is a huge one and celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a time for exchanging gifts, having family get-togethers, and spending the winter holidays with your loved ones. It is celebrated on the 25th of December and lasts for exactly 12 days, after which the festivities are concluded.

Christmas is also known as the “Christkindlesmarkt” in Germany, where children put a gift under the tree. Parents place a plate of cookies or buns by the tree and Santa Claus comes by to pick them up and leave the children small toys. People who do not celebrate Christmas tend to greet each other by wishing each other a happy Christmas.

Hanukkah: December Global Holidays

The Festival of Lights is a Jewish celebration, which is one of the most popular Jewish holidays.

It is celebrated for 8 nights. The story of Hanukkah starts with the Maccabees defeating the Syrian ruler Antiochus IV Epiphanes and restoring the Jewish Temple.

The second night of Hanukkah is when the first-born candle is lit. For this reason, one of the 8 candles used in the Hanukkah menorah is called a shamash. This is an honor reserved for the youngest person in the family, which in this case would be a baby. The name ‘Hanukkah’ is derived from the name of the small cluster of temple lamps called the Hanukkah bush. The light and the holiday reflect the power of light and knowledge.

In Hebrew, the holiday name is Helekoth or ‘Light.

Kwanzaa

Kwanzaa is a seven-day African-American religious and cultural holiday celebrated on Dec. 26, starting with the first day and ending on the seventh day.

It is celebrated to recall the first days of Africa’s freedom struggle. It is also a celebration of family and community.

Kwanzaa is often associated with the December holidays since it starts on the winter solstice.

Zulu Heritage Celebration

The Zulu Heritage Celebration is a celebration for the ancestors of the people of Zululand and all other South Africans. It takes place on Dec. 24 to Jan. 8.

Channukah – The Jewish holiday of Chanukah is celebrated on the first night of the holidays. It is one of the most popular Jewish holidays that takes place every year.

New Year’s Eve: December Global Holidays

It has already begun! Christmas and New Year are just days away. Across the world, celebrations are on the go, so I went on a global tour to enjoy the festive season. As you get ready to welcome the new year. Take a look at some of the holiday celebrations being celebrated across the globe.

Christmas Eve:

Hong Kong: While many of us are already doing last-minute shopping and booking air tickets. The Hongkongers are busy visiting their relatives and meeting their friends and business partners.

Singapore: There is a strong link with Christmas in Singapore. There are Christmas-themed lightings, decorations, fairs, concerts, and a lot of commercial activities. Most offices are closed for Christmas. The malls will have toy booths, winter chalets, and extravagant lighting.

Conclusion

Lasting the Festive Season can surely not be an easy feat. The festive season could not be described as an easy task. Due to the multitude of days where people from all over the planet gather for their many merrymaking experiences. The Festive Season offers up an opportunity for people to continue to experience the world with the sheer conviction of celebrating the timeless.

The freeness to experience all the wonders of the universe without interruption is not something that comes easily. It is a sheer delight for the freethinking individuals.
