The American vocal harmony group, Boyz II Men, remains one of the most truly iconic R&B groups in music history. Created in the 90s, the group maintains high acclaim as the redefinition of popular R&B and continues to release timeless hits that woo fans of all generations past and present.

Boyz II Men’s past hits include: “End of the Road,” “I’ll Make Love to You,” “One Sweet Day,” “Motownphilly” and many others.

What happened to Boyz II Men?

Since its inception, the group’s membership has seen a number of evolutionary phases.

The early career of Boyz II Men was overshadowed by tragedy when their road manager, Khalil Rountree, was shot and killed in 1992 during an attempted robbery.

Marc Nelson exited the group in 1990.

On January 30, 2003, former member Michael McCary left Boyz II Men due to personal issues and chronic back problems resulting from multiple sclerosis (MS). The record label Arista consequently terminated Boyz II Men’s contract on April 30. The remaining three members, Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman, and Wanyam Morris, took a temporary break from the music industry.

Boyz II Men continue to perform worldwide, now as a trio. Their most recent studio album, Under the Streetlight, was released in 2017, marking their 20th anniversary in the music industry as well.

Who died in Boyz II Men?

None of the original members of the Philadelphian R&B band have died yet.

The last mention of an incident leading to death is connected to a medical doctor and America’s Got Talent contestant who rose to fame for singing a 1-minute cover of a Boys II Men song in a viral video. Dr. Brandon Rogers died in a car accident in 2017. He was 29 at the time of his death.

The talented doctor rose to fame the previous year when his incredible one-minute cover of Boyz II Men’s On Bended Knee went viral and caught the band’s attention.

The Boys II Men trio was impressed that they reposted the clip on their official Instagram page and invited Dr. Rogers to Las Vegas shows to perform with them.

Following his demise, the trio shared a tribute in his honor on their Facebook page.
