There is horribly sad news from the world of reality TV.
Love After Lockup star Alla Subbotina died just a week after being recently released from prison.
She was just 31 years old.
Both the news of her death and the cause of her death were confirmed in a Facebook compliment posted by Ala’s mother, Jelena, last night.
“Sadly, I won the addiction today. My beloved daughter, Ara, died early today,” Jelena wrote, as Starkasm reported.
“I’m more than sad about this and I hope she’s in a better place,” continued the sad mother.
“Addiction is an ugly illness and my daughter has been fighting addiction for years. Sleep peacefully, my eternal daughter. We love you and remember you forever. increase.”
Jelena concludes with the words, “You live forever in our hearts,” written in our native Russian.
In another post, Alla’s father, Dmitriy, shared funeral details.
Subbotina’s death occurred less than a week after she was recently released from prison.
Fans of Love After Lockup viewers will remember that Alla was the first model to be put in jail at an early age after being obsessed with heroin.
The show recorded her first release from prison in 2017 and her relationship with her boyfriend James Christia.
Unfortunately, before the end of her season, Ara recurred and was sent back to prison.
Following the first release on July 4, 2017, Alla was rebooked on January 8, 2018.
Shortly thereafter, Christia revealed that she had been sentenced to 24-31 months in prison for possession of controlled drugs and violations of probation.
Alla was released on Christmas Eve in 2019, but unfortunately she hasn’t been free for a long time.
Her final mission in prison began just four weeks later when she was arrested on suspicion of retail store theft.
Ala’s family seemed hopeful and supportive, following her respective writings.
But as anyone who has lost a loved one due to addiction knows, all the support around the world may not be enough.
After the 2018 release, James revealed that he and Ara had broke up, but said he had not given up hope for a settlement.
“We took some time,” he said.
“But after all, our hearts are still attached to each other. I’m still waiting for her.”
The news of Ara’s death is Death of Tracy Wagaman, Another love after lockup star who spent his life fighting addiction.
In particular, the case resembles sadness, as both women were repeatedly imprisoned as a result of substance abuse problems.
Would their lives be saved if they were sent to treatment instead of prison?
Sadly, we never know, but in both cases it seems clear that imprisonment only exacerbated their existing problems.
We’ve known for decades that the American drug war is devastating, unnecessarily expensive, and completely ineffective, but it’s still going on.
In this very difficult time, our thoughts are directed at Ara’s loved ones.
