New models are being launched very frequently in the world, including various gadgets like smartphones, laptops, and tablets. Upgradation has influenced every sector, and the hobby sector is no exception.

RC cars are more of an obsession for every RC hobby enthusiast, and they are always looking for the best RC cars with the most updated features. Every year, there are new models added to the list of the best RC cars. But what features should you look out for when choosing a good RC vehicle?

This article contains all of the essential specifications to look out for in a good RC vehicle.

Features of a Good RC Car

Buying a good RC vehicle can be a tough job, especially with so many variations available in the market. Also, people who are yet to buy their first RC car can easily get puzzled by the various types of vehicles available today. So, these are the features of a good RC car to look out for.

  • Size

Make sure the car is on a 1/10th scale because this is the most commonly available size. If any customization is made, it won’t be challenging to find the different parts. Also, the steering servos, tires, and various other parts can be easily replaced if something malfunctions.

  • Speed

The usual RC vehicles can achieve the highest speed, and the fastest can reach even 200 mph! So if the reason behind purchasing the car is for racing, then a high-speed car must be selected. While an average vehicle has a speed of 30–40 mph, there are ones that can even travel to a speed of 90 mph for a 1/10 scale model. Therefore, look closely and select one that can pick up an optimum speed.

  • Electric cars are a better option

The most common types of propulsion used in RC vehicles are Nitro and batteries. In Nitro cars, there is a mini combustion engine that works on nitromethane, methanol, and oil. To drive these vehicles, fuel needs to be added. Also, it has been reviewed by several users that nitro cars are noisier as compared to electric ones.

As a result, most users prefer electric cars over the Nitro ones.

  •  Battery

When it comes to batteries, there are several variants. The cheaper batteries available nowadays are nickel-metal hydride ones that cost about $30. But these batteries are not very effective as they degrade quickly with time.

So, a much better alternative is the Lithium polymer (LiPo) batteries that usually provide the user with much better performance levels. Although these batteries are pretty expensive, they can hold much more energy.

However, if batteries are provided in the kit, it would be best to use them initially.

  • Prebuilt cars over kits

Although most cars nowadays are available in kits, prebuilt or ready-to-run vehicles are the best, as they are easy to use. Ready-to-run vehicles don’t need customization because they are already set up in the best possible way.

However, if you intend to customize the RC vehicle, you can get the almost ready-to-run ones as they can be easily customized as per your requirements, or kits allowing you to customize nearly everything. A good RC vehicle always comes with spare parts, thus allowing you to make changes whenever you wish to.

Conclusion

These are some of the attributes to look for in the best RC car. Also, if somebody wants to purchase a vehicle for the first time, they can seek assistance from the customer support specialists of the various leading RC vehicle suppliers.
