Crews responded to a pallet fire in the area of Stella Drive and Quartz Lane in Sun Valley on Thursday night. Crews worked overnight with assistance from the Nevada National Guard to monitor the fire.

Units from Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue, Reno Fire Department and Sparks Fire Department responded. NV energy also worked to shut power down in the area.

Residents can expect to smell smoke. The public is asked to avoid the area until further notice.

Officials say about one acre of property was burned, but it was mostly an outbuilding, pallets, abandoned cars and industrial/commercial debris.

Fire crews kept the fire contained to the property and there are no injuries reported.

Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue plans on bringing in an excavator for an overhaul and says crews will work on hotspots during the day Friday.
