Simone Biles sustained a grisly cut on her finger after being bitten by a German Shepherd.
The 24-year-old Olympic gold medalist showed off the gruesome wound on Instagram today, reassuring her fans that she had been checked out by a doctor and received a tetanus shot.
Biles, who grew up with several German Shepherds as pets, seemed in good spirits despite the painful cut and doesn’t appear to hold a grudge against the offending pup.

Biles filmed herself on Instagram stories earlier today, wishing her fans a good morning and excusing her supposedly ‘atrocious’ appearance.
‘Here’s an updated on my finger that the dog bit me,’ she said, showing off the nearly inch-long open wound on her right pointer finger.
‘German Shepherds don’t play,’ she wrote.

While the cut looks painful, Biles is able to laugh about it.
‘Lol I went to the dr to get a tetanus shot,’ she said.

Sadly, two of the German Shepherds have died in the past few years, and she has mourned them on Instagram.
When her dog Maggie died in 2017, she wrote: ‘You were my first dog, the dog I begged & begged my parents to get.
‘Yo you were my present when I made level 9 Westerns. I got to name you (Maggie). We grew up together… The craziest most unbothered dog!!
‘You were amazing. Have fun in Doggie Heaven,’ she wrote, sharing a childhood photo with the canine.

The German Shepherds appear to be her family’s dogs, while she has two French bulldogs of her own, Lilo and Rambo.
The injury likely means a break from training for Biles, who was seen making her way to her gymnastics training center in Spring, Texas on Monday.
Her appearance at the World Champions Centre — which is run by her parents, Nellie and Ron, and is home to her coaches, Cecile and Laurent Landi — came just days after Biles touched down in Texas after the 2020 Olympics.
Biles has remained fairly tight-lipped on whether she will continue training for the Paris 2024 Olympics, but did concede to the Today show’s Hoda Kotb last week that she is ‘leaving the door open’ to the Paris Games, by which point she will be 27 years old and likely the oldest gymnast competing for Team USA.

Returning in 2024 would give her a shot at more gold medals after a case of ‘the twisties’ derailed her plans for Olympic glory this summer

Returning in 2024 would give her a shot at more gold medals after a case of ‘the twisties’ derailed her plans for Olympic glory this summer.
The mental block causes gymnasts to feel like they are ‘lost in the air,’ and Biles has admitted that she was ‘petrified’ she was going to suffer serious injury as a result of the condition — which she has also revealed was likely ‘triggered’ by the trauma of the abuse she suffered at the hands of pedophile doctor Larry Nassar.
‘Now that I think of it, maybe in the back of my head, probably, yes, because there are certain triggers that you don’t even know. And I think [the abuse] could have [affected me],’ she said on Today last week.
Biles dropped out of five event finals amid struggles with her mental health, missing out on the team final, all-around, uneven bars, vault, and floor exercise events.
She returned to competition in time for the balance beam final and ended up winning a bronze medal.
