Jericka Duncan was born on 12 August 1983, in New York City, USA, and is a television news correspondent, best known for her work with CBS News based in New York City, responsible for covering various national and east coast stories. Her fame increased in 2018 after she came forward with threatening texts that Jeff Fager sent her, after sexual misconduct allegations were made against him.

The Net Worth of Jericka Duncan

How rich is Jericka Duncan? As of late-2018, sources inform us of a net worth that is over $1 million, earned through a successful career in journalism. She’s won numerous awards over the course of her career, and as she continues her endeavors, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Early Life, Education, and Career Beginnings

Almost no information is available about Jericka’s childhood, and her motivation for pursuing a career in journalism, it is known that she attended Aurora High School, where she was active in various sports activities, being a part of the school’s track and field squad as well as the basketball team, setting five records in track,

After matriculating, she enrolled at Ohio University, pursuing a Communications degree, and continuing her track & field endeavors with the university’s team. She received an NAACP Image Award for athletics in 2005, and completed her degree the same year. Afterwards, she started working for the Elmira, New York television station WETM-TV, affiliated with NBC. She stayed there for a short while until moving to the CBS affiliated station WIVB-TV, located in Buffalo, New York State, where she worked for the next five years.

Career Prominence

In 2013, Duncan became a national correspondent for CBS, and her fame increased as a result. She covered notable events around the country, with some focus in the East Coast, such as Boston during the winter storms, which earned her a Best Morning Show Emmy award. She covered the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, and the Washington Navy Yard Shooting s well as  the first anniversary of Hurricane Sandy, winning the Best Spot News Coverage Award from the New York State Broadcasters Association Award.

In 2011, she covered the Basement of Horror case in which four adults were held captive and their social security checks were stolen by the detainer. By the time they were discovered, they were already in conditions of deprivation (it was also called the Philadelphia basement kidnapping.) This led her to win an award from Associated Press. Around the same time, she was acknowledged by the Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists, and was given the Broadcast Journalist of the Year Award. Investigations are still underway to see if the kidnapping was part of a larger operation, as documents of more than 50 people were found in a search of the area.

Jeff Fager

In 2018, several women came forward accusing “60 Minutes” executive Jeff Fager of sexual harassment. The story reached Jericka who started reporting on the story. She was then threatened by Fager in an aggressive text message that told her to stop reporting, or it will become a serious problem for her. She exposed the text messages on air, leading him to be fired as executive producer. She was praised for covering a portion of the Me Too Movement, and Fager admitted to sending the message, but still denies the sexual harassment allegations.

After he was fired, she was supported by fellow CBS co-workers including John Dickerson, Gayle King, and Norah O’Donnell, and received a lot of praise for taking a stand and revealing the messages that were sent to her. Soon afterwards, she was given a lead speaker role at the Buffalo Association of Black Journalists, for their event entitled Social Media and Reporting on Race. Jeff Glor of CBS Evening News also spoke on behalf of his entire team, supporting Jericka 100 percent in her decision.

Personal Life and Social Media

For her personal life, not much is known in terms of any of Duncan’s romantic relationships – it is not known if she is in a relationship, or if she is already married. Several sources state that she is single but there are rumors going around that she is dating fellow journalist Dray Clark, which are unconfirmed.

When she is not working, she does a lot of charitable work. Aside from being a member of the National Association of Black Journalists, she has also worked with the Boys and Girls Club, and other organizations she’s supported include the Black Leadership Commission on Aids and Big Brothers Big Sisters. During her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, getting exercise through running, and reading. She is highly active online through accounts on social media, particularly on Twitter. Similar to numerous journalists, she uses her online platforms to help followers keep up to date with the latest news. Aside from that account, videos of her are also available online through YouTube, often shared by the CBS YouTube page which posts segments and promotions featuring her programs. Her father is also known to have worked for CBS in the past, which is one of the reasons she has stayed with the company.
