Zoom call of 2.01.22 Richie Alan Naggar You Are the Captain of Your Own Ship
His sense of adventure started at an early age. He told of attempting, at 7 years old, to play hooky from school. He first attempted to write an excuse note and while forging his mother’s signature, brought it to school to explain his reasons for his absence the following day. Not knowing if it would work, as growing up at the time in New York, he was anticipating the truant officer knocking at the door. When he felt the time was right, he ventured out and made his way to the subway and began a day of exploration knowing he had to be home at the appointed time that afternoon. This would not be the first time it was done, and he gained experiences that would form wisdom for his stories later on in life.
With some offerings of his jobs along the way and the tenacity with which he grabbed each one hos character and knowledge grew and he eventually decided he needed to tell his story, his way.
He decided he was going to write his own book. He did the research and as he was not accomplished enough to the extent of stardom or notoriety, he was not going to get that fat check book deal that would cover hie while he wrote his story.
He ultimately decided to self-publish as it was the most economical and do his own promoting. His first foray with selling his book was with a Border’s Book store near him. He asked the manager of the sore if he could set up a table to sell and discuss his book and was given his start as long as he didn’t create a nuisance.
This eventually got him a place on the shelves of several stores, and he appeared to be on his way, until Border’s declared bankruptcy and left him with a large debt as they didn’t pay him for the books he had purchased himself yet sold in the store.
He learned from this and began his sales under a more secure method for recovering his outlay of funds. His books can be found on his web site:

He belief is that we all have a story and with a little bit of effort we can tell that and help someone else. He offered an outline to get this done and was also very free in helping anyone that may be thinking of doing something similar.
Coincidently the theme for the February Challenge on ActiveRain is What’s Your Story Maybe that inner story will get its peak at stardom and another star will be born.
