Winters are synonymous with the search for warmth and comfort. And much of it comes from consuming healthy foods and drinks. A popular winter drink is coffee. But instead of having the boring old brew, why not spruce it up a bit?
Abhinav Mathur, CEO of Something’s Brewing – a Bengaluru-based brand dedicated to coffee – shared a list of ingredients to add to your regular cup of tea and make it suitable for winter; read on.
1. Cinnamon
Sprinkling a pinch of cinnamon before serving can create a delicious tea that will remind you of the holidays. A little trick is to add ground cinnamon directly to the coffee grounds in your filter coffee maker. This method is simple and leaves your spiced cinnamon coffees smoother and more fragrant.
2. Chocolate
Nothing says winters like hot chocolate. Adding chocolate to your coffee is the perfect solution. This gives your brew a mocha flavor, so adding a piece of silky milk chocolate may be what you are looking for. The chocolate will slowly melt in your coffee, leaving wonderful notes of cocoa and sugar.
3. Ginger
A gingerbread latte or spicy ginger coffee is a delicious, low-maintenance additive to your brew. Ginger has several energizing properties to keep you warm during the cold months. Take it up a notch by adding a cookie for more joy.
4. Eggnog
Eggnog is a classic winter drink. It’s creamy, sweet, reminds us of Christmas and is perfect for a latte. The eggnog in coffee acts like a cream, and adding a quarter cup of it to your coffee can do a lot of good. Bonus points for those who add a pinch of nutmeg.
5. Peppermint
Nothing says winter like the candy cane. A simple ingredient of peppermint schnapps can be added to coffee, cream, and a few mint leaves to accompany.
